The No

Last verified 2026-08-11

20.1% of players have cleared a level without placing a single turret. That is lower than it should be, because this achievement is not really a test of skill — it is a test of whether you bothered to upgrade the ability branch.

The guide by itsuno is characteristically direct about it. Of the level he used, 2.1, he writes that it "requires no guide. It can be completed with the use of any of your 4 click abilities."

What you are working with

Four abilities, and only one of them is unlimited.

Missile launcher — 2.5 shots per second, 79.5 damage, 20 m radius, 12 shrapnel at 8 damage each with 2 penetration, plus a 50% slow for 2.5 seconds. Crucially it keeps firing automatically after one click. This is the ability that does the sustained work.

Strafing run — three per map. A corridor 110 m wide and 398 m long, 142 damage across 105 bullets.

Nuke — three per map. 260 damage across a 250 m radius.

Orbital cryo beam — 6 seconds duration, 34 m radius, held for 4.4 seconds, dealing 50 damage on defrost.

Those figures come from a stat sheet by the Steam user Mrlazy, self-dated 31 July 2026. Mumpitz Games has not published ability numbers.

The run is a budgeting problem

Six limited charges total — three strafing runs and three nukes — plus an unlimited missile launcher and a cryo beam you can hold.

The ordering that works, described by the player Григорий in a different context, is cheapest first: let the missile launcher run continuously, use the cryo beam to buy time when a group bunches, spend strafing runs when orcs accumulate, and hold nukes until the strafing runs are gone.

Spending a nuke early because a wave looked frightening is the single most common way this attempt ends, because the wave that actually kills you arrives later and you have nothing left.

Why the cryo beam matters more here than in normal play

In a turret defence the cryo beam is a minor tool — your guns are already firing and the freeze just holds things still for them.

With no turrets, freezing is the only thing standing between a wave and your base while the missile launcher works through it. The 4.4-second hold and the 50 damage on defrost are secondary; what you are buying is six seconds during which the wave does not advance.

Use it on the group closest to your base, not on the largest group.

This achievement pairs with the nuke achievement

There is a separate achievement for dealing 666,000 damage with a single nuke, unlocked by 36.5% of players.

A no-turret run is an unusually good opportunity for it. Without turrets thinning the wave, orcs arrive in far denser clumps than they normally would, which is exactly the condition a 250 m radius nuke needs to reach that damage total.

If you are going to attempt both, attempt them in the same run.

If it feels impossible, the problem is the upgrade tree

Mumpitz Games' store description states that resources are earned from every run, won or lost, and spent on a meta-progression tree. That means there is no way to be permanently stuck — only under-invested.

If abilities feel too weak to carry a level, the honest answer is to keep playing normal levels and put resources into the ability branch, then come back. Unlike the no-ability achievements, this one does not reward cleverness so much as preparation.

A note on why the unlock rate is this low

At 20.1% this sits below the single-turret challenge (23.8%) despite being, by itsuno's own account, the one that needs no guide at all. That gap is worth explaining.

Constraint achievements are self-imposed — nothing in the game prompts you to try them. Most players who clear the campaign simply never think to place zero turrets, because the entire game has been teaching them to place turrets well. The achievement is not filtering for difficulty so much as for curiosity.

The practical consequence is that the unlock rate is a bad guide to how hard this one is. If you have the ability branch upgraded, it is among the easier eight.

What we have not documented

We do not know how ability damage or charge counts scale across upgrade tiers, so we cannot tell you the upgrade level at which this becomes comfortable. We also cannot confirm whether the achievement is locked to level 2.1 or simply easiest there — itsuno used 2.1, and the game does not state a requirement either way.
